In this conversation, it’s founders Elli and Theo unpack how sustainability, material honesty, and 3D precision fuse into a design ethos that’s both deeply rooted and future-focused.
What’s the single most important principle guiding your design philosophy, and how does it manifest in your latest collection?
Nowadays where sustainability is key, our brand embraces the culture of eco-friendly and more ethical products, which is reflected in every single step of our creating process, minimizing as much as possible our carbon footprint. Ceramic materials are known for their sustainable attributes and the 3D printing process heightens these by minimizing waste in production and reducing the environmental impact typically associated with traditional manufacturing methods. Our guiding design principle is "Harmony Between Craft and Innovation." We believe that technology should enhance, not replace, the tactile beauty of traditional ceramics. In our latest collection, this principle manifests through the seamless integration of 3D printing precision with the organic, natural qualities of clay and porcelain. Each piece reflects the balance between digital design and handcrafted aesthetics, showcasing intricate geometries that would be nearly impossible to achieve by hand while preserving the warmth and uniqueness inherent in ceramic materials. The result is a collection that feels both futuristic and deeply rooted in material authenticity.
Materials tell a story. Can you share one material choice that defines your work, and why it’s non-negotiable for you?
Clay. The field of product design through 3D printing has always been in our sights, but the plastic/PLA material was a deterrent since we have always prioritized environmental friendliness, especially in the times we are living in. After many discussions with manufacturers of 3D printers using alternative materials we were presented with the option of clay printing and decided to give it a shot and explore the opportunities that this technology could offer us. Clay is abundant in nature, it is a renewable resource that can be sourced sustainably without harming the environment. What is more, the reusability and recycling of clay offers many more options than any other material. In the case of a faulty printing, we have the ability to reuse the clay immediately to reprint another item and even after it is dried, we can reclaim it.
If you could change one misconception about your craft or industry, what would it be?
3D printing ceramics is an easy procedure. One major misconception about 3D-printed ceramics is that it removes the human touch from the process—that it's purely mechanical or lacks the artistry of traditional ceramics. In reality, 3D clay printing is just another tool in the hands of a maker. Every piece still requires deep material knowledge, design intuition, and hands-on refinement. From sculpting digital forms to fine-tuning print parameters, and from glazing to firing, each step is an interplay between technology and craftsmanship. Rather than replacing tradition, it expands what’s possible, allowing for intricate structures and new forms of expression while still embracing the unpredictability and character of clay.
What’s one decision in your design process that no one ever notices—but you’d never compromise on? One decision in our design process that often goes unnoticed—but we’d never compromise on—is calibrating the perfect balance between clay consistency and printing parameters. The way clay flows, layers, and holds its shape is everything in 3D-printed ceramics. Even a slight change in moisture content, extrusion speed, or nozzle size can drastically affect the final piece—whether it’s structural integrity, surface texture, or how glazes interact with the form. We meticulously refine these variables for each design, ensuring that our pieces are not just visually striking but also durable and functional.

If someone truly understands our work, they’ll say something like: “I love how your pieces feel both precise and organic—like technology and craft are working together rather than against each other.” This tells us they recognize the delicate balance we strive for: using 3D printing to push the limits of ceramic design while still honoring the natural qualities of clay. It means they see beyond just the novelty of the process and appreciate the deeper interplay of material, form, and craftsmanship that defines our work
